We collect and process the following categories of personal data:

  • Contact & enquiry data – name, email, phone, county/Eircode, and the details you submit in forms or by phone/email/WhatsApp.
  • Service & customer data – installation address, property details relevant to water quality (e.g., hard-water issues), communications and support history, quotes, invoices.
  • Technical & usage data – IP address, device/browser information, pages visited, events (e.g., form submissions), via cookies and similar technologies.
  • Media/uploads – photos you optionally upload (e.g., under-sink area) to help us assess your setup.

We do not intentionally collect special categories of data (e.g., health, religion) and we don’t sell personal data.

2) How we collect data

  • Directly from you when you fill out forms, request a quote, book a survey, email or call us.
  • Automatically via cookies/analytics when you use our website.
  • From publicly available sources or suppliers where needed to deliver/maintain your installation (e.g., parts availability, warranty checks).

3) Why we use your data (lawful bases)

We process personal data only when a lawful basis applies:

  • To provide quotes, surveys and installations (Art. 6(1)(b) contract or steps prior to a contract).
  • To answer questions and provide aftercare (contract; legitimate interests in running our business and supporting customers).
  • To send service messages such as appointment updates, invoices, or safety/recall notices (contract/legal obligation).
  • To improve our website and services (legitimate interests in usability, security and performance).
  • Marketing with consent – if you opt in, we may send occasional news/offers. You can withdraw consent at any time.

4) Cookies & analytics

We use a consent banner to control non-essential cookies.

  • Essential cookies – required for the site and forms to function.
  • Analytics/measurement – e.g., Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google Ireland Limited) and/or Google Tag Manager to understand site usage and improve our content. These run only after you accept cookies in the banner.
  • You can change or withdraw consent at any time via the cookie settings link in the footer.

For full details, see our Cookie Policy.

5) Sharing your data

We share personal data only with trusted service providers and only as necessary:

  • Hosting, backup, email, and website providers (including SMTP/transactional email).
  • Analytics & tag management providers (as above).
  • Installation partners or couriers where needed to deliver equipment or fulfil work.
  • Professional services such as accountants or legal advisors (legal obligations).

All processors are bound by contracts that protect your data and prohibit use for their own purposes.

6) International transfers

If we transfer data outside the EEA/UK (for example, to a vendor’s data centre), we will ensure appropriate safeguards such as European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and/or an applicable adequacy decision. Copies of relevant safeguards can be requested via info@itsyouririshwater.ie.

7) Retention

We keep data only as long as necessary for the purposes above:

  • Enquiry data: typically up to 24 months from last contact if you do not become a customer.
  • Customer/service records and invoices: retained to meet legal/tax requirements (generally up to 6 years in Ireland).
  • Technical/analytics data: as short as feasible and according to our analytics settings.

When retention ends, we delete or anonymise the data.

8) Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, secure backups, and staff/contractor confidentiality commitments. No method is 100% secure, but we work to prevent unauthorised access, alteration, or loss.

  • Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erase your data (in certain circumstances).
  • Restrict or object to processing.
